SOFT-bannerEmily from Heartsexplode has started a new Etsy shop called SOFT (Sewing Only For Tattoos). She’s making adorable bags for a good cause: to get herself some much-needed ink. All of the money she makes is going into a special tattoo fund, not to be touched until the day she can afford to get the tattoos she so desperately wants. Go check her stuff out and buy a bag or two – they’re hand-stitched and made with only the prettiest fabric around.

kickballJust a little reminder for anyone in the Minneapolis area on Thursday, August 27th: is having their annual Field Day at the Walker Arts Center Sculpture Garden. Come for food, kids activities, a screenprinting workshop, Greenspace Games and much, much more. As a special added bonus, local indie rock band Solid Gold is playing at 8:30 in the Greenspace behind the museum. The entire event is free (though you will have to pay for parking, food and beverages if that’s your thing). Come out and see me in  the Bazinet lobby, get a sticker and see what your local art community is up to!

green star box - openIt’s been a busy day over here at Craftease. I just got done listing a ton of cute new painted boxes in the shop, and you should probably go check them out. There’s all different colors and sizes, hearts and stars, and all are hand-painted with acrylic paint and made to be ultra durable. Custom boxes are also available!

HE-large-iconI have to give some love to my lovely lady Emily from Heartsexplode. She’s been working on a bunch of new purses, bags and pouches made from reclaimed fabric and zippers, and I have to say, they are absolutely adorable. I’ve seen them in all stages of production, and she has poured her heart into these bags. Each one is carefully hand-stitched – no sewing machine needed for this girl. She’s adding more bags this week, so be on the lookout for even more cuteness! You should go check out her shop and buy something before they get snapped up.

P.S. Like the logo? I designed this sucker. If you want one for your shop, let me know at

octopus - boygirlpartyI stumbled upon at work today, and let’s just say it was love at first sight. Susie Ghahremani’s website is filled with adorable art, jewelry, clothing, paper goods and more, all featuring her unique style of animals and plants.  I’m in love with anything owl or octopus-related right now and am completely crushing on the Socktopus.  It’s an octopus. That knits. Awesome. She’s also got a neat blog and a band called Snoozer and is an all-around creative, crafty girl. You should check out her site, sign up for her mailing list,  and maybe buy a few things for you and the people you love. is an amazing resource for local artists and crafters, and I’m so excited to be a part of their annual Field Day this year. The event is on August 27th at the Walker Arts Center, and activities will be mainly held in the Bazinet lobby, greenspace, and Sculpture Garden. The festivities begin at 11Am and go until 10PM. There will be a screenprinting workshop with Calpurnia Peach, kickball and other games in the greenspace, puppet shows and kids activities at the FlatPak house, an artist’s mall in the lobby, literature and poetry reading by Geoff Herbach and Andy Sturtevant, and even a kid-friendly dance. There will also be a special performance by Minneapolis’s own Solid Gold starting at 8:30,  so you can dance the night away.  And the best part? The event is TOTALLY FREE. Come visit me rom 6PM to 8PM at the .org mall in the Bazinet lobby – everyone that comes down gets a free Craftease sticker and a coupon for 20% off their next order! Come down and check out the Field Day festivities, it’s going to be a rockin’ good time!
